Professional Aspiration

Tonight one of the books I read Teo was a Cynthia Rylant book called Mr. Griggs' Work. It's about a post office employee who loves what he does so much that he can't wait to get back to his post office after being home sick. When the book was over, I told the boys Mr. Griggs was a very lucky man because it's wonderful be paid to do the thing you love. I told the boys I didn't care what they do when they grow up, but that I hope they'll both do something they love so they'll be happy every day at work. Luke then offered up that he is going to design video games when he grows up, and Teo said he wants to be a designer. I asked him what kind of designer, and he said, "Card designer." I think this was on his mind because this afternoon with Laura (our babysitter extraordinaire) Luke made a Christmas card to go with his "cousin secret santa" present and Teo made a card for Monica, a girl in his class who keeps sending little "love notes" home with him. So card-making must have been on his mind, but still I thought it was strange when he said that. It wouldn't surprise me at all if he continued the design legacy. Just remember, you heard it here first!
