Lately, Luke has been reminiscing about the "good old days" a lot. He'll say, "Mommy, remember when..." and then tell me about something we did two years ago. Sometimes I'll express surprise that he remembers these things, and then he'll look at me seriously and say, "I keep it in my memory." We're not sure where he picked this up, but he's been saying it a lot! He even tells us now, when we've made him some promise, that he's "Keeping it in his memory."
Last night we spent two hours at a kindergarten information session at his new elementary school. I can't believe we've gotten to this point! One of the teachers gave us a tour and at one point she was talking about getting her kindergarteners to understand how to write in a journal. It reminded me of how ubiquitous the "journal" is in elementary and middle school classrooms, and I decided I'd work with Luke on a little journal of his summer experiences as a way of helping him "keep it in his memory" and to give him a little practice before school starts. I wonder if they make Power Ranger lined blank books? You probably can't get those at Borders, huh?
